Dog Hair – Don’t Shed on Me

We all love dogs, but some of us just don’t want the maintenence of a dog that constantly sheds. I totally get that dog shedding can suck when you show up for work and your clothes are covered in your dog’s fur. There’s not much like that, and for many that isn’t what they want.

If you are also the same person who hates picking up chunks of dog fur throughout your house, then a nonshedding dog may be right for you! Of course, this is information based off talking to groomers, vets, and doing some online research as well.

Getting a new pet can be tough. You first have to decide if you plan to rescue the dog or get one from a breeder. Both ways have multiple pros and cons. Ultimately, it is your choice which dog breed fits your lifestyle or that of your family.

This is just a small list, there are many other dog breeds who shed minimally, or don’t make you have to constantly pick up dog fur from the floor or vacuum.

Small Dogs That Don’t Shed

I’ll start off by saying once again that there are more than just these 7 dog breeds but these are the ones that seem to be most common.

1. Schnauzer

This breed comes in two sizes, a small miniature and a standard taller size. Schnauzers are great family dogs and easily trainable. They tend to be very outgoing, love walks, and playing. They come in different coat colors as well such as cream, black, white, and a traditional silver.

5. Lhasa Apso

This breed is on the small side and tends to be lazy as well. They can be trained but most often require food to be involved for them to be motivated. They will go and do whatever you like to do but they definitely prefer to just cuddle or snuggle up to you.

6. Poodles

There are three different sizes to poodles. This is good if you are wanting a larger dog instead of just a smaller non shedding dog. The small ones for a poodle are teacup and miniature. They also come in a standard which is the larger size poodle. They tend to be known to have the most hypoallergenic coats. Poodles are extremely smart dogs and want to be part of anything and everything you do.
